The ILX is an all-new model for the Acura brand, but it’s based on the 2012 Honda Civic sedan. It will come with three power train options:the volume model will be powered by a 2.0-liter four cylinder mated to an automatic transmission. Details are unclear if this is the same power train that powered the now-discontinued Acura RSX. The ILX Hybrid will be the first hybrid offered from Acura and will be powered by the same 110+23-hp 1.5-liter gas-electric IMA power train from the Civic Hybrid. The top-of-the-line model will be powered by the Honda Civic Si’s 201-hp/170 lb-ft 2.4-liter and six-speed manual transmission.
The ILX will not share any body panels with the Civic, and the windshield appears to be more aggressively raked. Acura says the interior of the ILX will be well-appointed and offer keyless entry with pushbutton start, as well as Pandora internet radio and a text-to-voice SMS capability standard.
